Character Classes

So last year in May I posted some character classes I had been working on. They were meant to be exercises and not finished concepts so that I could work on improving my painting skills in Photoshop. The irony is I don't feel like that's how that worked out at all. With each illustration I felt like I was back-peddling trying to keep the style and overall feel of the illustration similar across each piece. As a result by the time I got to the most recent piece I felt it necessary to un-apply all that I had learned to make it match the other 3. I guess that's what I get for slowly painting 4 images over the course of a year.

Jungle Elf

Did this as part of a "homework" assignment for a series of classes we have been participating in at work. It was a simple assignment, take a few assigned images and use them to create an image that the images inspired. I might post the images later.

Wow! Portrait study 2 days in a row? Thats a pretty good streak. I might have to keep this up. I feel like the likeness is closer than my previous attempts, however my digital painting skills still need work.

Debra Messing...

Haven't done one of these in a while...Likeness is still a struggle for me but these are really good exercises.
